Dear Friends and Neighbors,
Welcome back to Olympia! I am excited to be back on the Capitol grounds. The “freeze” on my legislative communications to you has been lifted, and I look forward to providing you with information throughout the 2017 legislative session.
During the interim, I accomplished exactly what I said I would do. I listened to your issues and concerns and also about the wonderful things happening throughout the district and state. I truly enjoyed building relationships with the great people, businesses and schools in our district. As interim winds down, it is time to shift focus and get to work! Recently, my colleagues and I returned to Olympia to participate in committee meetings and begin work on legislation as we prepare for the upcoming 105 day session, set to begin on Monday, Jan. 9. With many challenges ahead, our priorities will be focused on:
- Providing all students with a world-class education
- Empowering families and strengthening communities
- Protecting taxpayers and holding state agencies accountable
For more in-depth highlights of our legislative priorities, please watch my current video update.
Alongside the legislative priorities, I will continue to work hard to find practical solutions toward:
- Economic growth and opportunity, including small business and job growth.
- Education, including enhancing our career and technical skilled workforce.
- Budgeting and fiscal responsibility, including a budget which funds education and holds the line against tax increases.
Stay tuned for more information as we push ahead into session!
I am pleased to announce I have been appointed to three House committees for the 2017 session. I will proudly serve on the Community Development, Housing and Tribal Affairs committee. I am humbled and honored to be chosen as assistant ranking member of this committee by House Republican leadership. This opportunity puts me in a good place to help address many of the pressing issues facing our district. As a small business owner in the property management and real estate industry, housing issues are a natural interest for me. I look forward to getting to work on the important issues directly impacting our communities across Washington state.
Thank you for taking the time to read my legislative email updates. Please feel free to share these updates with your friends and family and encourage them to subscribe. As your voice in Olympia, I am most effective when I hear the issues, concerns and questions directly from you. I welcome you to share your thoughts with me on the information covered in this update, and any other issues important to you, your family, and your business. Please feel free to call my office at 360-786-7824, or email me.
It's an honor to serve you. I wish you a blessed New Year!
