Dear Friends and Neighbors,

Beginning tomorrow, May 6, election-year restrictions will be in effect until the November general election results are certified. These restrictions apply to all my official communications, including email updates, statements, press releases, videos, radio appearances, and more.

However, I will still able to respond to constituents who contact me, so please continue sharing your comments, questions, and concerns. My email address is Andrew.Barkis@leg.wa.gov and my phone number is (360) 786-7824.

In my last email update, I provided a link to my post-session Barkis Breakdown video, in which I provided my thoughts on a variety of issues as they related to the session. Shortly after, Rep. Wilcox and I got to work writing our 2024 Legislative Report to send to all of you in the 2nd District. You probably received it in your mailbox this weekend. If not, it should arrive this week.

In the mailer, which you can read by clicking on the image below, we cover:

  • House Republican priorities and our efforts to fix Washington.
  • The three initiatives approved by the Legislature and the three that will be on the November ballot.
  • The supplemental operating, transportation and capital budgets.
  • Bills we sponsored and saw approved during the 2024 session.
  • Washington’s affordable housing crisis.

As most of you know, Rep. Wilcox announced that he will be retiring from the Legislature at the end of this current term. You can read his farewell letter in the mailer. I have the utmost respect for Rep. Wilcox and have thoroughly enjoyed serving alongside him as we’ve represented the 2nd District. He is principled, steadfast, reliable, honorable, and so many other positive adjectives. We owe him a debt of gratitude for his 14 years of service to our district and state. While I am happy for him and what lies ahead in his future, I also recognize what our caucus and the Legislature is losing with his departure. Thank you, J.T. We will miss you.

I am here to serve you year-round, so I encourage you to continue reaching out to me with your comments, questions and concerns. You can also contact my legislative assistant, Kaden, to set up a time to meet with me in district or if you need assistance dealing with a state agency.

It is an honor to serve you. We’ll talk to you again in November.

Andrew Barkis
