Rep. Andrew Barkis welcomes new Legislative Assistant to Olympia office

You will see a new face around 2nd District Rep. Andrew Barkis' legislative office in Olympia. Shelby Pelon steps into the legislative assistant role, replacing former assistant Barb Peters. Barb retired after serving the state Legislature for over 35 years.

“I wish Barb all the best in retirement. She was a tremendous asset to the office, and to the people of the 2nd District,” said Barkis, R-Olympia. “Shelby is a great addition to my team. Her legislative skills and expertise will be a huge contribution to my office. Please join me in welcoming her aboard!”

Shelby has been with the state House of Representatives since 2014. She is a graduate of Eastern Washington University with a degree in Government.

“I'm immensely excited to be working as Rep. Barkis' new legislative assistant,” said Shelby. “I am happy to start engaging with and getting to know the wonderful people of the 2nd District. I'm always here to help, so please don't hesitate to reach out if there's anything I can do for you.”
