Rep. Andrew Barkis tells KLCK Radio some winter highways may not get plowed after state highway workers were axed for not getting COVID shot
House Republican Transportation Leader Rep. Andrew Barkis, R-Olympia, says 13 of the 17 Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) workers in Goldendale lost their jobs over the COVID vaccine mandate. He tells KLCK's Kevin Malcolm that could cripple the ability to put snowplow drivers on the roads this winter to keep highways clear. As many as 462 WSDOT workers were either fired or forced to lose their jobs after not being vaccinated by Oct. 18.
