Barkis Breakdown: Public safety, housing, and all things budgets

In this edition of the Barkis Breakdown, Rep. Andrew Barkis, R-Olympia, gives a “breakdown” of where some key things stand as the end of the 2023 session approaches. He talks about public safety and two key bills still in play: vehicular pursuits and the Blake fix (drug possession). He also provides an update on several housing policies: one bill that died (his lot splitting bill) and two key policies (ADUs and middle housing) that are moving through the process. He ends this “breakdown” talking about everything having to do with the transportation, operating, and capital budgets.
