Rep. Andrew Barkis speaks in favor of House Bill 1846 aiming to address ferry vessel procurement

During House floor debate, Rep. Andrew Barkis, R-Olympia, ranking Republican on the House Transportation Committee, spoke in favor of House Bill 1846 aiming to address vessel procurement at the Washington State Ferries. The state's ferry system is a part of the state highway system, and like many things, many of the ferry boards are starting to age. This bill would begin the contract and bidding process for up to five new hybrid diesel-electric vessels.
