Rep. Andrew Barkis speaks in favor on concurrence of House Bill 1846 aiming to address the state’s aging ferry fleet

During House floor debate, and on the concurrence of House Bill 1846, Rep. Andrew Barkis, R-Olympia, continues to speak in support of this important bill aiming to address vessel procurement at the Washington State Ferries. The ferry vessel – MV Walla Walla – recently ran aground near Seattle, further demonstrating the issues of an aging ferry fleet. This bill would begin the contract and bidding process for up to five new hybrid diesel-electric vessels.
